Jesús G. Guillén, Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Monday May 30, 2011 in Richmond, Texas. He was born on January 21, 1921 in San Benito, Texas to Jesus and Natalia (Gaytan) Guillén, and lived most of his life in Fort Bend County, retiring in Needville, Texas. His family remembers him as a dependable hard worker who instilled his faith and work ethic in his children and entertained young and old with his quick wit and storytelling.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Natalia and Jesús Guillén Sr.; brothers, Rojelio, Guadalupe, and Pablo Guillén; and grandson, Christopher G. Morgan.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Simona Gomez; children, Vera, Natalie, John Anthony, Roberto, Estella, Diana, and Joseph; sister, Carmen Tijerina; and brother, Pedro Guillén; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg.
A funeral mass was held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land. Interment followed at San Isidro Cemetery in Sugar Land. A reception following the internment was held at the Sugar Land Community Center located at 226 Matlage in Sugar Land, Texas.
