Joanne Ray Walling
March 27, 1927 – November 10, 2015
JOANNE RAY WALLING, 88, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2015 in Sugar Land, TX. She was born on March 27, 1927 in DeQuincy, LA.
She is preceded in death by her son, Bill Walling; mother, Kathleen Powell and son-in-law, J.C. Burnhan.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim Walling; and daughter, Kathleen Walling Burnhan.
JoAnne was a republican to the core and spent many years as a member of Magic Circle The Republican Women’s Club. She worked the phone banks for both the George H. Bush and George W. Bush campaigns.
Needlepoint was something she loved to do and at Christmas she shared her labor of love with ornaments she made for “special” people. JoAnne was quite the joke teller and had a great sense of humor. Through many years of poor health she managed to keep that wit.
JoAnne also volunteered for many years with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She registered PGA player for the Houston Open Golf Tournament for many years. JoAnne loved sports, and knew more about sports than most men. She loved her Texas Longhorns.
JoAnne’s pain and suffering are over and she is resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
