On July 19, 2011, John H. Ward kicked the bucket, hopped the twig, bit the dust, snuffed it, breathed his last and gone to meet the Great Head of Light in the sky.
He was born in Goose Creek TX, August 22 1931 and was a 41 year resident of Stafford TX. He was the beloved husband of Pat Sargent Ward, and devoted father of two incredible sons.
As a young man John joined the Navy that took him around the world with many adventures. His greatest adventure started while in port, in Mobile AL where he met his wife of 56 years. He was discharged from the Navy Feb. 2 1954 and married his beautiful bride ten days later in AL. They made their way back to TX where John attended University of Texas. One year to the date after marrying his bride John started his lifes’ work as a mentor, moral role and most loving father with his first son Scott. With the birth of his second son Tim his family was complete. John enjoyed everything outdoors, working in his yard, traveling, the lord our God and making sure everyone around him felt the joy that infected him everyday of his life. To meet John on the street you would be greeted with a smile that would brighten up the gloomiest of days and a sincere “How ya do’n?”
John is survived by his wife Pat Ward, his sons Scott Ward, wife Ruth and Tim Ward. Also survived by sister Ethel Friermood and brother Buddy Ward.
He was preceded in life by parents Jack and Altha Ward and sisters Margaret Beth Dumas and Ellen Crocker.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on Sunday, July 24, 2011 by Rev. Stephen F. Whaley.
