Katy man killed in Algerian hostage crisis

February 6, 2013 by FortBendStar

On the global scene, the reported hostage standoff at a natural gas complex in Algeria reveals that a Katy man is among the three Americans that were killed last week. Another one is reported to be from  Houston.

Fred Buttaccio, 58, from Katy worked at BP and was a University of Houston graduate.  He died after terrorists took hostages at the Algerian desert facility. He was the first reported death and accounts indicate that the Buttaccio’s family has declined to comment.

A search indicates that there is another Fred Buttaccio in this area, namely Missouri City, and he is not the person who was reported to have died last week in the standoff.
