Kempner High School art student brings back a Gold Medal from the Livestock Show and Rodeo

February 1, 2012 by FortBendStar

Kempner High School is so excited about the recent involvement and success of three of our outstanding art students.  On January 20th, students Thomas Juarez-Nieto, Kaitlyn Monette, and Irnie Sanjurjo, participated in the Houston Rodeo 3D Sculpture Competition. Competition was tough as schools from all over the Houston area participated and received recognition. The three participants were Irnie received a third place ribbon, Kaitlyn a second place, and Thomas Juarez-Nieto received a gold medal with his goat themes piece titled “Humphrey.”

There were 400 entries and only 14 were chosen to receive a gold medal awards. One of those 14 was Thomas’ piece and it will be on display at the Rodeo along with the other gold medal winners.
