Schiff Elementary School students, in grades 3-5, learned the value of combining good nutrition with regular exercise as they welcomed to their campus Kid Power, who led them in an interactive musical lesson titled, “Operation Lunch Line.“
During the presentation, Kid Power captivated students as he led them on an animated 3-D adventure inside the human body of a boy named, Max. At the start of the journey, students learned that Max feels terrible due to his poor diet and lack of exercise. Through audience participation, the students not only helped educate and motivate Max to eat properly and exercise, but they also learned that they possess the “kid power” they need to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviors to lead a healthy life.
Kid Power also reminded students of the importance of staying active, saying “You don’t stay fit if all you do is sit.” Students also took part in sing-a-longs, and watched as some of their classmates joined “Professor Nerdmeister” in an enzyme relay race about digestion.
The presentation was sponsored by UnitedHealthcare and presented to students at Schiff and Heritage Rose Elementary Schools.
