The school year will begin soon, students will return to class, and homework assignments will begin to accumulate. Don’t fret – the library is here to help! Get a head start and learn all about Fort Bend County Libraries’ materials and services for students at a special program, “Back-to-School Resources at the Library,” on Tuesday, August 13, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab at the Sienna Branch Library, 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City.
Library staff will provide an overview of the online databases – many of which can be accessed from a home computer — that are available for students.
These databases contain helpful, reliable information on a variety of subjects, including literature, science, writing, and math. Those attending the class will learn about the library’s online Homework Help service (Brainfuse), and receive a demonstration on how to use it.
Library staff will also show how to use library resources to create correctly-formatted citations, and will have a list of websites that provide additional citation assistance.
The class is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Calendar,” select “Sienna Branch,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-238-2952, or by visiting the library.
