Did you get a new Kindle, Sony Nook™, iPad®, or other type of eReader for the holidays, but you’re not sure how to use it? Fort Bend County Libraries will present introductory programs on downloading eBooks to eReaders this month at the Sienna Branch Library, 8411 Sienna Springs in Missouri City.
Learn how to browse, select, and download eBooks to your eReader from the library’s online digital library collection, OverDrive. It is necessary to have a Fort Bend County library card to check out eBooks from the library. Please bring your eReader device, library card and library PIN to the class.
The schedule of classes is as follows:
• Tablet & eReader Open House – Saturday, January 4, 2:00-4:00 pm, Meeting Room. Bring any type of eReader device to this come-and-go workshop for one-on-one help with downloading eBooks and audiobooks to your new device. Registration not required.
• Shift Into OverDrive with Kindle – Tuesday, January 7, 10:00 am, Computer Lab. Registration required.
• Shift Into OverDrive with Apple iPad – Thursday, January 16, 10:00 am, Computer Lab. Learn how to download eBooks to different Apple devices, such as iPhone®, iTouch®, or iPad. This class will also cover free or low-cost apps (applications) that can be downloaded to these devices for fun or daily-living uses. Please bring your iTunes account information. Registration required.
• Shift Into OverDrive with Nook – Thursday, January 23, 10:00 am, Computer Lab. Learn how to download eBooks to different Sony eReader devices such as Nook Color, Nook Tablet, Nook HD, or Nook HD+. To download eBooks, the device must have Internet-accessing capabilities. Registration required.
