Letter to the Editor

Your article on the First Tee was very good.  While you gave a paragraph to Linda E and Roger regarding starting up First Tee at Quail Valley, they deserve many paragraphs.  Linda convinced the Ladies Golf Association and the Quail Valley Exchange Club to ante up for initial funding.  The LGA also has an annual golf tournament to support First Tee.
The Quail Valley Course provides space and mentors to assist the largest First Tee organization in the Houston area. They do a wonderful job of teaching Roger’s Nine core values plus the rules of golf.

Yes, the First Tee is a wonderful organization and takes much more than money. It takes the many volunteers who lead the classes each week. It takes Coach Roger the inspiration for the mentors. It takes the Quail Valley Golf course staff to make ready the practice area and provide the meeting space. It takes the parents willing to bring their kids to the program that teaches the First Tee core values as well as a love of the game of golf. And it takes the kids who are willing to learn to be better citizens by living the Core values First Tee teaches. So… yes it takes a Village. Be generous with your money and if you have the time we always need more adult volunteers in a multitude of roles. Come join us
