Explore the wonders of the world without ever leaving Texas during Fort Bend County Libraries’ “Armchair-Travel Movie Series” at the Sugar Land Branch Library in October. The library will show travelogues featuring different countries each week. Showtime is 1:00 pm, and the movies will be shown in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 550 Eldridge.
On Friday, October 11, enjoy a virtual tour through Spain. In this travelogue video, you will see the works of artists such as Velazquez, El Greco, and Goya in Madrid, and Pablo Picasso in Barcelona. Visit El Estorial, a palace monastery so grand that it is sometimes called the eighth wonder of the world. See Segovia, home of the Alcazar, and a Roman aqueduct that still works. Explore the gypsy caves of Cordova, and discover Moorish Spain in Granada. See Seville, the city that inspired four operas and the story of Don Quixote. Enjoy the Costa del Sol, and learn about the Salvador Dali museum. Showtime is 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
On Friday, October 17, take a virtual tour through the countryside of Italy with this episode of a popular PBS travelogue series. Enjoy the grand hill towns of Assisi and Siena, explore Tuscany’s Dolce Vita, and visit the Amalfi Coast. Learn about Cinque Terre, and see the best of Sicily. Showtime is 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
On Friday, October 25, watch a travelogue video exploring Papua New Guinea. Virtual travelers will journey off the beaten path to discover this country’s untamed and unspoiled islands, world-class dive sites, wild jungles, and active volcanoes. Showtime is 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
