Child Advocates of Fort Bend, along with Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Exchange Club of Sugar Land, the Child Welfare Board, and Nicole and Cameron Hill will mark the beginning of April Child Abuse Prevention Month on Friday, April 5, 6 p.m., Sugar Land Town Square Plaza, with their annual Light of Hope event.
Highlights of event:
Ceremony to kick off April Child Abuse Prevention Month; Featuring Sugar Land Mayor Pro Tem Don Smithers, 387th Judicial District Court Judge Robert Kern; 450+ area Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts; Singing by Sugar Land recording artist Debbie Fancher; and a special interactive display.
To call attention to the fact that child abuse exists in every community and build community support in the fight against abuse. Child Advocates of Fort Bend speaks up for abused and neglected children. More than 10,500 abused and neglected children have been served since they opened our doors in 1991. On average, they serve more than 400 children each month between their two programs, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Children’s Advocacy Center.
