Carlene was born March 9, 1942 in Hodge, Louisiana to her parents, Carl and Lora Watson. She graduated from Galena Park High School in 1960 and later attended Lamar University. She was married to Arthur “Buddy” Kennedy, prominent banker and business owner, until his death in 1997. For most of her life, Carlene and her family lived in Fort Bend County where she was a homemaker, business owner, administrative assistant at Texas Instruments, and later an employee of Fort Bend ISD where she worked in Human Resources until her retirement in 2008.

A well-loved member of her community with many friends, Carlene was an active member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church where she was involved in Capstone Ministries Hope for the Heart Widow’s Group. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, and a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Carlene is survived by her son, Kyle Kennedy of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Spencer Nimmo of Missouri City, TX; sisters Jackie Schroeder of League City, TX, and Joanie Watson and wife Len von Bieberstein of Austin, TX; sister-in-law Patricia Thompson of Clear Lake, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved grandchildren Taylor and Karli Nimmo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur “Buddy” Kennedy.

Carlene will be buried in a private ceremony on Monday, May 16, 2016. A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 20 at 11:00 AM at Sugar Creek Baptist Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carlene’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sugar Creek Baptist Church Capstone Ministries ATT: Hope for the Heart Widow’s Group events.
