In an effort to combat the injustices of child abuse and neglect, representatives from Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s Children’s Advocacy Center and officials from Waller County recently signed A Memorandum of Understanding, formalizing their commitment to work together on behalf of child victims.
“Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s Children’s Advocacy Center helps to bring together those agencies charged with the civil and criminal investigations of child abuse to ensure that the unique needs of abused children are being addressed in a child friendly manner,” said CAC Program Director Fiona Remko.
The Center provides forensic interviews, case management services, therapy and criminal court advocacy services for free to families of abuse victims and to partner agencies. Although the Center has been providing courtesy services for law enforcement and Children’s Protective Services in Waller County for some time, this agreement will formalize that arrangement.
Representatives from the Waller County District Attorney’s Office, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, the Cities of Waller, Prairie View, Hempstead, Brookshire and the school districts of Hempstead and Royal, as well as Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s Children’s Advocacy Center signed the agreement.
The Waller County District Attorney’s Office hosted a reception following the ceremony.
