Poonam and Kalpana Vaidya have been selected by International Leadership Network (ILN) as two of 38 students in the United States to receive recognition as a 2011 Young Achiever. The Young Achievers program promotes community, national and international recognition for the positive accomplishments of young people. This early recognition encourages youth to achieve and helps them recognize their potential to be positive role models, leaders and mentors. Young Achievers are students in grades 5-10.
Poonam is currently a student at Austin High School going into the 10th grade. Kalpana is currently at student at Sartartia Middle School going into the 8th grade. Poonam and Kalpana, nominated by their teachers at their respective schools, are dynamic individuals. Not only are they stellar students but they also participate in a variety of activities.
Most recently, Poonam has been involved in the girl planning board for the Girl Scout National Convention to be held in Houston in November. Kalpana has been involved in making the day a little bit brighter for the elderly.
Poonam and Kalpana both enjoy Girl Scouting (Poonam is working on her Gold Award and Kalpana just finished her Silver Award.), dancing on their school’s dance team, and traveling.
