In support of America’s heroes, veterans and first responders, Fort Bend’s newest rotary club, Southwest 59 Sunrise, and Operation American Heroes Foundation will host two events in November to honor and celebrate them.
The events billed as one commemoration include a Tribute/Celebration and a Gala. The Tribute/Celebration is a free event set for Thursday, November 10, 7-9 p.m. at Sugar Creek Baptist Church. The business casual event is open to the public, especially to all veterans, first responders and their spouses. Seating is limited to 2,000 and those wishing to attend are asked to register for seating. There will be live entertainment by Nash 3, the presentation of awards and a keynote address by (Ret.) General Jerry Boykin, USA.
The second event is a Gala at the Sugar Land Marriott, Friday, November 11, 5:45 p.m.to 6:50 p.m. for a VIP Reception with event keynote speakers, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for dinner/program. The black tie optional Gala will consist of dinner, awards, entertainment and a presentation by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples. Single seat tickets are $150 and VIP tickets are $250 each.
Both keynote speakers are an integral part of the two-day event.
This commemoration is the first partnership event between SW 59 Sunrise Rotary Club and Operations American Heroes, and it will set the foundation for subsequent annual events, said Miller. The strong partnership is intended to raise funds for use by both organizations specifically to assist veterans and first responder support organizations. “Eventually we would like to establish a national effort with Rotary Clubs across the country to work with Operation American Heroes in this same effort,” said Miller.
Assisting with the organization of the events is Rotary Club official John Miller. He invites interested persons to go online, honoramericanheroes.com, to reserve their tickets for either event, sponsor a table or underwrite the event. There’s also a Facebook page.
