Major gift brings Fort Bend Y closer to annual campaign goal
Thanks to a recent pledge of support by Bo and Amy Huggins, the Fort Bend YMCA is $50,000 closer to its annual support campaign goal for 2016.
Bo Huggins, president/CEO of Houston Distributing Co., made the announcement late last month that his family and company would be making a combined gift of $50,000 to support the YMCA’s efforts to outreach Y programs to Four Corners and Fresno. The gift marks the 11th year in a row that the Huggins family has made a pacesetting gift to the YMCA’s campaign.
“The longer I live, the more I appreciate people with the same DNA. In this case DNA means “Don’t Need Accolades” for their giving. When we leave this world we leave only the memories behind. The Huggins family has created a legacy of support that will last forever in the memory of serving others,” said Mike Flory, YMCA board member.
The YMCA’s annual campaign, which kicked off Jan. 30 with a goal of raising $285,000 is an effort by the volunteers, supporters and staff of the YMCA to make sure that the non-profit mission is achieved. During the campaign, which ran through March 31, dozens of Y volunteers solicited financial support and told the story of the Y’s efforts to provide their programming for all.
“One hundred percent of the donations to the annual campaign go directly to program and membership scholarships as well as subsidizing YMCA outreach initiatives”, said Kai Jones, 2016 Fort Bend Y campaign chair.
