On Wednesday, January 12, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston officially opened the Mamie George Community Center in Fort Bend County. His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo performed a Blessing Ceremony and immediately following, His Eminence, along with the trustees of The George Foundation and Catholic Charities board members and president, participated in the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
The momentous occasion was celebrated by approximately 350 guests who enjoyed delicious refreshments and live entertainment by the Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir.
Located at 1111 Collins Road, the 26,000-square-foot community center is a hub for Catholic Charities services in Fort Bend County. The Center provides much needed services, with an emphasis on low income residents and seniors.
Funding and volunteer commitments from the community are vital to sustaining programs that will help people facing numerous challenges move towards self-sufficiency.
