The Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force, a Houston HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) initiative composed of local and federal agencies, interdicted a large amount of methamphetamine on U.S. 59.

On Tuesday, April 12, while working highway interdiction, a unit on the interdiction team conducted a traffic stop of a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation on U.S. 59 north at Daily Road in Rosenberg. During the roadside investigation the interdiction detective and his K-9 partner, “RIK,” located 17.7 pounds of crystal methamphetamine concealed in the headliner of the vehicle.

The suspect, 40-year-old Ricardo Lozano of Harlingen, was arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on charges of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance, a first degree felony, and unlawful use of a criminal instrument, a second degree felony.

Lozano currently has no bond. The methamphetamine weighed approximately 17.7 pounds with a street value of $123,900.
