A Grants Lake man was robbed near his home, and police are looking for suspects. The Grants Lake community has seen its share of crime over the last couple of years and with this most recent parking lot robbery, residents are again concerned.
Grants Lake is a community of town homes, condos, and patio homes sitting just west of State Highway 6 at Grants Lake Boulevard, between William‘s Trace and Lexington. Over the last two years, the “Star” has reported on two parking lot robberies and several criminal trespasses. Eventually, a Stafford man was caught entering women’s residences through unlocked doors and arrested. Those cases occurred in August of 2011 and late December of 2010, respectively. All are considered resolved however, this latest incident has again put the community on alert.
According to authorities, a man arriving home from work in the 2700 block of Grants Lake Boulevard, was attacked and robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot outside his Sugar Land home. The man was reportedly accosted by two men, believed to be Hispanic, wearing dark jeans, jackets and baseball caps, who demanded his cash at gunpoint then ran away.
Authorities believe it is possible that the suspects followed the victim home from a nearby gas station where he works knowing that he was carrying cash. The victim was not physically injured.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Sugar Land Police at 281-275-2500.
