Eight hundred Meadows Place residents signed a petition in opposition to the roundabouts concept. At first, we had no person who would agree to represent us by placing his name on the ballot for the upcoming election. Then, Mr. Whiteman did step forward. We are grateful for his commitment and for our success.
Evidently, many signers failed to vote–neglect, unawareness of the circumstances, dependence on the “other” person’s votes, whatever. These are the facts and the suppositions of the present situation.
*Editor’s Note: The letter writer was commenting on the differences between the 800 signers and 263 voters although John Whiteman won the election. Although all 800 petition signers did not vote, the turnout for the election broke previous Meadows Place records. Many hope the question of roundabouts has been laid to rest with the defeat of one of its ardent supporters. BKC
