What started out as a way to help unravel the maze of Medicare has turned into a mission for native Houstonian Toni King. The “Medicare rules are changing all the time and I talk to people who have master’s degrees and don’t understand the rules!!” King explains. Self taught from experience, on the job training and continued research, local Medicare guru Toni King helps people, “particularly those who are totally confused and scared they will make a wrong decision, a decision that may affect them for life” understand their Medicare and what their options include.
“Medicare is not a Baptist thing!”, she said, referring to the site of the workshop at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, “This is an American thing because Medicare does not care if you are Republican or Democrat, speak English, Spanish or Polish, married or single, or came from “Mars”…Medicare affects everyone the same way!! The rules are the same for everyone!”
King, senior advocate, columnist, and author, has written 3 books on the subject of Medicare. “My second book turned from writing and selling a book to a “Mission”. A close friend of my family, Marvin Zindler, told me ‘there are two groups that cannot defend themselves and need help…Kids and the Elderly.” “Marvin is no longer with us and someone has to step up to the plate and I’m doing just that.” declares King, who has given Medicare workshops throughout Texas and the Southeastern U.S.
Whether it is “boomers, who are coming of Medicare age, those already on Medicare, or the adult children who have to help or need to make decisions for their parents or elderly relatives, this is what is her life’s Mission”.
Toni’s Confused about Medicare workshops answer questions such as “Medicare Part D and the donut hole”… the prescription money pit, what is difference between “Original or Traditional” Medicare, a Medicare supplement or Medicare Part C (an Advantage Plan)”. These questions and many more will be answered at the Confused about Medicare Workshop to be held at Sugar Creek Baptist Church-Chapel, 13213 Southwest Frwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478 on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. The presentation is free of charge and open to the public. RSVP by calling 832/800-4674.
