January 27, was a different kind of day at Campbell Elementary. Students, teachers, and parents arrived in their 1950’s wear: poodle skirts, bobbie socks, leather jackets, sunglasses, ponytails and slicked- back hair.
It was “bring a pair of socks to school day.” We were donating socks to LCISD’s Common Threads. But there was more… our gymnasium was transformed into a soda fountain/dance floor. We had a hula hoop contest. We did the limbo. We did a freeze dance. We played games. We had so much fun at “The Hop.”
A special thank you to Houston area disc jockeys who shared part of the day with us: Michelle Fisher, Tim Tuttle, and Kevin Kline. They were exciting and made the day very special! Also, a HUGE thank you to Mr. Curtis Clark, father of Courtney Clark, who brought over his 1968 Ford mustang for the day.
Kids for Kindess, along with Campbell Elementary donates over 500 pairs of socks to LCISD’s Common Threads.
