Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is pleased to announce the opening of its new Advanced Wound Care Clinic – another important step forward in the hospital’s commitment to bring new services and expert care to Fort Bend and surrounding counties.
Located on the Methodist Sugar Land Hospital campus in Medical Office Building 3, suite 150, the Advanced Wound Care Clinic provides state-of-the-art care for non-healing wounds through proven wound care practices and advanced clinical approaches.
“The treatment of chronic wounds is a rapidly growing need here in Fort Bend,” said Chris Siebenaler, CEO of Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. “Our new service will play an important role in improving the quality of life of patients suffering from wounds that require the highest level of care.”
The Advanced Wound Care Clinic’s team of wound care physicians, nurses and medical professionals will develop a customized approach for each patient, one designed to address the patient’s overall health and lifestyle.
“Non-healing wounds are often associated with inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins and immobility,” said Dr. Nicholas Desai, DPM, Medical Director of the Advanced Wound Care Clinic.
“These types of wounds occur most frequently in the elderly and in people with diabetes – populations that are sharply rising as the nation ages and chronic diseases increase.”
Potential patients do not need a doctor’s referral to come to the Advanced Wound Care Clinic. Indications for wound care include diabetic wounds, pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds, complex soft tissue wounds, traumatic wounds, wounds caused by radiation therapy and infected wounds.
