Miguel (“Mike”) Muñoz Garza, Jr., 70, of Sugar Land, Texas was suddenly called upon by the Lord on April 29, 2011. He was born October 27, 1940, in San Diego, Texas and grew up in Alice, Texas. Mike was an exceptional athlete, most notably at William Adams High School where he was a star football player for the Alice Coyotes. In 1974, Mike was named on the Dean’s List at the University of Houston, and obtained an Associate Art Degree in Criminal Justice/Business Administration. Mike served as a Texas Peace Officer for the University of Texas Police Department for 27 years, ending his career ranked as a lieutenant. His noble heart, his integrity, and his example will live on in all those people that were touched by him. Mike is survived by wife, Celia Irma Garza; sons, Michael Ray Garza and Richard Anthony Garza; brother Omar Garza; in-laws Ignacio and Aurora Delafuente; many loved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives and friends. A private Memorial service will be held in his memory. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
