In preparation for the Summer Reading Club, which begins June 3, Fort Bend County Libraries’ Missouri City Branch Library will have an abbreviated schedule of children’s programs in May. The summer schedule of activities will begin during the second week in June. These programs are free and open to the public.
The May schedule is as follows:
Toddler Time — Tuesdays at 10:15 am — offers caregiver/child activities, stories and songs for older babies, from 12 to 36 months of age. Toddler Time will take place on May 7 ONLY this month.
Pre-school children, 3 to 6 years of age, will enjoy Story Time, where they hear stories, watch movies, and participate in age-appropriate craft activities, beginning at 10:15 am each Wednesday, and at 10:30 am each Saturday. Story Time will take place on May 1, 4, 8, and 11 ONLY this month.
Pajama Night Story Time — Mondays at 7:00 pm — gives families an evening option for the activities presented during the daytime. Pajama Night Story Time will take place on May 6 ONLY this month.
“Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe,” a bilingual Story Time for Spanish-speaking families, normally takes place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, beginning at 7:00 pm. Families with children of all ages will hear stories in Spanish and English, and will enjoy a variety of other activities such as songs, crafts, and movies. Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe will take place on May 1 ONLY this month.
The After-School Break — crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children in 1st through 5th grades – takes place on the 2nd Thursday, beginning at 4:30 pm. The After-School Break on May 9 will be “Mother’s Day.”
The Teen Program, which normally begins at 5.00 pm on the 3rd Tuesday, is designed for youth in grades 6-8. The Teen program will not take place in May.
