A total of 27 Missouri City residents graduated from the 26th Annual Police & Fire Academy with a spaghetti dinner at the Community Center on Texas Parkway attended by Mayor Allen Owen and Council members Robin Elackatt, Bobby Marshall, Floyd Emery, Danny Nguyen and Don Smith.
Each graduate received a certificate at the event last month and are now eligible to join the Missouri City Police & Fire Auxiliary and/or the Citizen’s Response Team. Both provide support to police officers and firefighters at crime scenes and fires. Participants engaged in demonstrations that included firearms simulation, the police dive team, and firefighter gear and apparatus.
Fire Chief Russell Sander and Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald applauded the graduates, letting them know that the six-week class “gives you a different appreciation for what firefighters and police officers do every day.”
