Missouri City seeks residents’ input on funds for low- to moderate income families

February 20, 2013 by FortBendStar

Each year, Missouri City allocates funding for projects to benefit low-income, elderly, disabled and at-risk children through the Community Development Block Grant Program.

Community improvements paid for with grant monies include new sidewalks, street lights and housing repairs. As the city prepares to identify projects for this year, staff is seeking resident input on the program through this survey, which is also accessible online at www.missouricitytx.gov.

The survey is also available at City Hall, 1522 Texas Pkwy. For more details, residents can call 281-403-8600.

Funding for 2013 will start being allocated in July. Past CDBG funds have been used to upgrade the appearance of neighborhoods, to improve public parks, to repair sidewalks, to rehabilitate owner-occupied residences, to pay for social services that provided meals for home-bound seniors, and to provide literacy assistance, counseling for children in abusive situations, assistance to domestic violence victims, and medical care for low- and moderate-income children.

To receive resident input and feedback on the program, including the Consolidated Plan projects, the Annual Action Plan projects and the Fair Housing program, a public hearing will be held on Monday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
