On Monday afternoon, June 24, about 3:30 p.m., Rosenberg police responded to a call at the Woodlands Inn and motel along US Highway 90A, locally known as Avenue H in Rosenberg, after several children were reportedly not being attended by an adult.
When officers arrived on the scene they found four children left alone. Those children ranged in age from 6 months to 8 years of age. According to newly appointed Rosenberg Public Information Officer Brian Baker the children had been left by their mother in a dirty and untidy place littered with dirty diapers and the abundance of flies.
According to authorities, the children, 8 years old, 4 years old, 3 years old and a baby 6 months old, had been left in the motel room alone by their mother.
According to Baker, as the officers were investigating at the motel, Sarah Dolores Gonzales, 25, of Richmond arrived and claimed to be the mother of the children.
Gonzales was arrested on four counts of Abandoning and Endangering a Child; a State Jail Felony. Her children were released to relatives as the police and CPS investigate.
At press time Gonzales remained in jail on bonds of $30,000.
