Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jose Johnathan Esquivel, 19, of Needville for the robbery of the Riverside Drive-In committed Monday, Sept. 19, 2011. Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Haenel said a tip to Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of Esquivel. He was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies the following Saturday at his home.
During that robbery, the clerk told officials that a group of four men wearing either masks or bandanas had rushed into the store. One of the masked men demanded money and was waving a gun. The clerk also told authorities that when customers in the store realized what was happening, the masked men fled the scene. The only thing the suspects got away with that day was some beer, said Haenel.
Esquivel has been charged with Aggravated Robbery, a first-degree felony. He remains in the Fort Bend County Jail with a $50,000 bond.
