The search is still on for the BB Bandits that have caused thousands of dollars in damage in the Greatwood and New Territory subdivisions.
In cases that date back to late June, the BB Bandits have been trolling the streets of the subdivisions shooting out car windows and damaging property. The damages ramped up over the Fourth of July weekend when deputies took upwards to 40 reports for criminal mischief relating to shattered car windows in the two neighborhoods. Many residents have not filed police reports as the damages do not exceed their insurance deductibles.
Initially Sheriff’s officials reported the suspect vehicle to be a dark colored Mustang. Later it was determined that the suspect vehicle was believed to be a small dark colored SUV. The suspect vehicle information was developed from a residential surveillance camera in Greatwood. According to reports as the suspect vehicle passed by the surveillance camera, the sound of a whizzing BB could be heard. At last count there are a total of 44 reported cases in this crime spree.
At press time the cases remain open with no indication that an arrest has been made. Authorities are asking anyone with information about these cases to contact Crime Stoppers where a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
