After an executive session, Fort Bend County Commissioners recently announced the selection of Richard W. Stolleis, P.E. as the new county engineer to oversee a department of 24 employees beginning next month on May 1. In Judge Bob Herbert’s absence, Commissioner Grady Prestage presided over the meeting announcing the unanimous action.
Although Stolleis will join the county’s engineering department this upcoming week, he will not assume the position until the departure of the retiring engineer, D. Jesse Hegemeier, P.E., who will leave at the end of April after having served the county for 18 years. Hegemeier announced his retirement in January.
Stolleis was selected from a field of candidates totaling 43, according to Fort Bend County’s HR Director Kent Edwards. “We put five in front of the Commissioner’s Court,” said Edwards resulting in the selection of Stolleis. The new county engineer will be leaving Kelly R. Kaluza and Associates, Inc., consulting engineers and surveyors operating out of Rosenberg.
