New voter registration certificates will soon be mailed to all active registered voters in Fort Bend County. The new cards will be yellow and white in color and are valid until December 31, 2013. They will replace the current blue & white cards, which expire December 31, 2011.
Normally replacement certificates would have been mailed in December, but the process was delayed due to litigation over Texas redistricting.
Cards will be mailed over several days with the last scheduled to me mailed on Friday, April 6. All active voters in the county should receive the new card. Any voter who does not receive a card by mid April should contact the Elections Department at 281-341-8670 or by email: email@example.com.
Voters should sign and retain their new certificate, and are encouraged to check the information for accuracy. Registered voters who have moved, or had a name change, should notify the Elections Department, in writing, to update their records.
A current Voters certificate, a Texas Drivers License, or other form of identification is required to vote in Texas.
The deadline to register to vote, or for a voter to update an existing registration, in order to be eligible to participate in the May 12, 2012 City and School Election is April 12, 2012. In order to vote in the May 29 Primary election, a voter must be registered by April 30, 2012.
