Nine Fort Bend ISD elementary students were chosen by their principals for a recognition luncheon sponsored by Benihana in Sugar Land. Students were selected for a variety of reasons, ranging from outstanding citizenship, excellent effort or overcoming adversity.
Randy Haizlip, general manager of Benihana, kicked off the celebration by giving the students a lesson in Japanese greetings and in using chopsticks. He also presented each student with a Benihana chef’s hat, chopsticks and an activity book. Principals each received a Benihana pen.
Following the luncheon, principals spoke about their chosen students and their accomplishments, and then presented them with Certificates of Recognition.
Principals and students who participated were: Principal Donna Whisonant and Brandon Feather (Austin Parkway); Assistant Principal Cliff Nickel and Chase Jolly (Brazos Bend); Principal Gene Dupont and Polina Bandrovskaya (Colony Meadows); Principal Jill Clay and Ainias Smith (Dulles); Dr. Latecha Bogle, principal, and Chase Cole (Highlands); Principal Lucretia DeFlora and Perla Bautista (Lexington Creek); Principal Jaimie Geis and John Graves (Palmer); Principal Kristi Durham and Xavier Thorn (Settlers Way); and Dr. Lesli Fridge, principal, and Mariana Sedita (Walker Station).
