Voting polls for Saturday, June 11, non-partisan Sugar Land and Rosenberg City Council run-off elections, open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Voters residing in Districts 3 and 4 in Sugar Land will decide between Howard Paul and Amy Mitchell, vying for the District 3 council position, and between Harish Jajoo and Farha Ahmed, both in the District 4 council race.
Neighboring Rosenberg has William T. “Bill” Benton and James Urbish on Saturday’s runoff ballot for the Position One council at large spot. Voting this Saturday in Rosenberg is announced to be at city hall on Fourth Street. For the 10 voting sites in Sugar Land’s district seat races, voters are advised to check the Fort Bend County or the city’s website.
Early voting for the runoff races, which began last week, ended this Tuesday. As of Tuesday morning, Fort Bend County Elections Administrator John Oldham reports that 1,777 early votes were cast at the First Colony Conference Center, 245 votes at city hall in Sugar Land and 575 votes were recorded in Rosenberg.
Of those early votes, 643 were cast on Saturday at First Colony in the afternoon because there was a 5K race in the morning that temporarily blocked the voting site, said Oldham.
Candidates with the majority votes from the runoff races will win the council seats.
