Humana is inviting all nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations based in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris or Montgomery County to apply for the one-time, $100,000 Humana Communities Benefit charitable grant in Houston. Organizations will be considered in the operational areas of childhood health and education, health literacy and services or intergenerational health. The application deadline is July 13, 2012. Following a selection process by a panel of local judges, the 2012 grant winner will be announced at a celebratory event in October.
“Humana is pleased to offer the $100,000 charitable grant again, and we encourage any Greater Houston nonprofit organization that aims to improve the health and wellness of the community to apply,” said Pattie Dale Tye, president of commercial operations for Humana in Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth. “Over the past eight years, we have donated nearly $1 million dollars in charitable funds to some of the area’s most innovative nonprofits, and we look forward to continuing that tradition this year.”
The Humana Communities Benefit program in Houston has been awarding one-time $100,000 signature grants to Houston-area nonprofits focused on improving the health and well-being of local communities since 2004.
