Christina Barnes Guenther’s courageous battle ended on November 15, 2007 at her home with her family by her side. Although a cruel, relentless foe ravaged her mind and body it never defeated her spirit.

Christina Barrows was born on June 25, 1957 in Jefferson Parish, a few miles west of New Orleans, Louisiana. A long time employee of ODECO in New Orleans and Murphy Oil in Houston, Christina was close to realizing her dream of becoming a registered nurse when an aggressive brain tumor was discovered in April, 2003.

Outdoor enthusiast, music aficionado, woodworker, gardener, artist, political activist and animal lover, Christina was a true renaissance woman. Hiking a high mountain pass, chatting at a formal cocktail party or behind the wheel of her 4WD truck, Christina was at ease in any environment. Enjoying a sunset behind the Eiffel Tower, exploring the alleys of Venice, the ghost towns of Colorado or the slot canyons of Utah, she also knew her way around a pool table in a smoky bar while listening to the blues and wielding her custom made cue.

Christina is survived by her loving mother, Ms. Johni Barrows of Harahan, La. and her best friend and husband, Mr. Stephen Guenther of Meadows Place, Tx. She will be missed by her family, friends, neighbors, coworkers and members of her congregation. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, health aides and their support staff who lent her their expertise but gave her their hearts during her long illness.
