Ruth Lorene Baggett

Ruth Lorene Baggett, 92, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 24, 2008. Ruth was born November 11, 1915, in Carlos, Texas to Osbon B. and Carrie Mills Curd.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Douglas J. Baggett. She is survived by their daughter Ruby Hale and husband Billy E. Hale of Sugar Land, Texas; their son, Douglas G. Baggett and wife Janice of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren: Lisa Hale Latimer and husband Mike, Carrie Hale Beauchamp and husband Brad, and Gregory Baggett. Great grandchildren: Brady, Haley, Cole and Lainey Latimer, and Madison and Wyatt Beauchamp. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Sam Huff and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was the oldest and last surviving child of the four children born to Osbon B. and Carrie Curd that also included a sister, Ruby Curd Huff, and two brothers, Mills and Richard Curd. Her family moved to South Texas and eventually settled in Three Rivers, Texas where her parents owned the Rivers Inn CafÈ. It was while working at the cafÈ that she met her future husband, Douglas. Before moving to Sugar Land, Texas, Ruth and Doug lived in Pasadena, Texas for 30 years. She was a homemaker and retired after working for twenty years at the JCPenneys stores in Pasadena. Ruth was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church where she and Doug were active in the Senior Adult Department. The family wishes to express its appreciation to Ruth’s loving friends and her loving and faithful caregivers, Lula Washington, Barbara White and Connie Ballard.

The funeral service was conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 27th of October in the Morrow Chapel at The Settegast – Kopf Co. at Sugar Creek. Graveside services were at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, Texas.
