“Do you want to see?”
Less than a year ago, Fort Bend Star Publisher Beverly Carter told a story about having been pulled over by the Sugar Land Police for not wearing a seatbelt. She had undergone breast surgery and was experiencing discomfort with the seatbelt across her chest, so she moved it over. This action was either seen by the police officer or it just plainly didn’t look like she was wearing a seat belt. After having been told why she was being pulled over, she explained to the officer why she didn’t have the seat belt on followed by volunteering to show him the red, burning scars on her chest. “Do you want to see?” “No mam,” he said politely, and off she went…to relate the story, and so many others! May she rest in peace. Beverly’s Memorial Service will be on Saturday, July 20 at the Stafford Civic Center on Staffordshire Road.
