Did a part of the sky fall on Sugar Land?

A burning flare like an angry bonfire about 30 feet high in Sugar Land last Thursday turned out to be a pipeline inspection by Atmos Energy.  It lit up the sky causing some residents to be momentarily alarmed.  Although the pipeline inspection began around mid-month and was done during the day, it wasn’t until last week that people started calling about it since it could be seen so brightly in the night. The testing took place where Elkins Road ends in the Brazos Bend subdivision.  The company, by the way, is required to do this inspection only once every seven to 10 years.
