One teen was killed and another man wounded in a gunfight that erupted early Sunday morning at a house in Greatwood where people were partying in a home of a family that is out of the country on vacation.

According to various reports, 18-year-old Demonte Ziegler was found dead from a gunshot wound inside the home and 21-year-old Ira Donahue was wounded. He was rushed to the hospital in a medical helicopter. His condition was unknown as of press time.

Deputies from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the home on Stone Arbor Drive at Arbor View Drive around 3 a.m. and saw several teens and young adults fleeing the scene.

Sheriff Troy Nehls said the shooting resulted from a heated argument. Apparently the homeowners are out of the country on vacation and left a key with a friend to take care of the family pets. A party was held at the house Saturday night when things turned violent.

Ziegler was no stranger to guns. He was arrested in 2015 while a student at Travis High School when he was allegedly found with a gun in the pocket of his jacket while on campus.

The shooting is still under investigation.
