Oyster Creek Elementary School Families take part in National Walk to School Day

November 29, 2012 by FortBendStar

Several Oyster Creek Elementary School (OCE) families enjoyed a morning stroll to school as they took part in National Walk to School Day on October 3. Spearheaded by OCE nurse, Nancy Cartie, and sponsored by UnitedHealthcare and H-E-B, the event helped promote the health benefits of regular daily exercise and concern for the environment. As OCE walkers approached the campus, they were greeted by school and district staff at a refreshment stand, where they received water and fresh fruit to help start their day.

Walk to School Day was established in the United States in 1997 by the Partnership for a Walkable America.
