Police search for gunmen who robbed Sugar Land convenience store

Two gunmen stormed into a Sugar Land convenience store Wednesday night and robbed several customers, according to our news partner KHOU Channel 11.

Food Express, located on Bournewood near Eldridge Road, is a locally-owned convenience store smack dab in the middle of the quiet Covington Woods neighborhood.

Witnesses say two masked robbers went into the business before 9 p.m. One forced the clerk to his knees. The other hid and waited for customers to walk in just like they do every day.

It was a busy night at the store as customers were coming in late for PowerBall tickets hoping to win big. Instead they became victims.

When the customers walked in, the second gunman took their phones, wallets and then forced them to the back of the store. The duo was able to do this to four different customers.

KHOU 11 News spoke to one of the customers who didn’t want his name used.

“I was customer number 2,” the man said. “My heart was pounding. It was frightening having a gun pointed at your head. Just a bunch of lowlifes that had to be brazen to hang out inside for that long.”

The man says a woman was even corralled into the back.

“She said, ‘I have children, don’t shoot me,’” the man recalled. “The robber just went ‘SHHH.’”

At the nearby Ahh-Some Hair salon, stylist Vicki Guerrero isn’t taking any chances. Not after what happened right next door.
