Pregnant young woman dragged down sidewalk

April 6, 2011 by FortBendStar

A young pregnant woman was attacked, robbed, and dragged down a store sidewalk when a man tried to steal her purse at the CVS Pharmacy in Meadows Place.

On Thursday evening, shortly before 7 pm., March 31, a young pregnant woman and her sister were leaving the CVS drug store located at 12381 West Bellfort Boulevard in Meadows Place. As the 21 year old female and her 14 year old sister exited the store, a man who was loitering near the front door, rushed the older of the two women from behind and grabbed the strap of her purse, knocking her to the ground. Before the victim could get the strap off her body and shed her purse, she was dragged 6 to 8 feet down the sidewalk. Eventually the woman was able to free herself from her purse. Her assailant ran to a waiting car and fled the scene with her handbag.

Although the 21 year old victim was six months pregnant, she nor her baby are believed to have suffered serious injury.

The suspect was described as a white male, about 6 feet, between 30-40 years old. According to police, he had brown hair and a goatee type beard, and was wearing blue jeans, a dark tee shirt with a large design on the front over what appeared to be white tee shirt. He was seen on store surveillance video walking in and out of the store, standing near the front door as well as standing near the pharmacy counter. Most of the time the man appeared to be texting on his cell phone.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2005 or newer Chevrolet Trailblazer or GMC Envoy. The getaway car was being driven by a white male described as “skinny”, wearing glasses, a goatee type beard, and a white tee-shirt.

The two were last seen traveling east bound on West Bellfort Boulevard.
