Commitment continues with plans for Sunshine Kids 30th anniversary extravaganza
Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors was honored recently at the Prudential Real Estate Services national convention in Orlando, Florida where the firm received Prudential Network’s award for the 2011 Top Contributor to The Sunshine Kids Foundation. During the year, Prudential Gary Greene contributed over $318,000 to the charity.
Prudential Gary Greene has been committed to the nonprofit since 1992, and over the years has supported them with over $3 million in donations.
G.W. Bailey, noted television actor and executive director of The Sunshine Kids Foundation, is grateful for their support.
“Every year The Sunshine Kids Foundation provides national, one-week activities, free of charge for young cancer patients from across the country,” said Bailey. “With the trips we provide, these cancer patients have the opportunity to meet other kids who have gone through the same painful treatments and feelings of isolation that they have experienced.
“I cannot say enough about what the Prudential Gary Greene team has done for the Kids,” continued Bailey. “They have made it possible for us to create more activities for more kids with cancer – not only in Houston but all across the U.S. and Canada. They have had an enormous, incalculable impact on our operations.”
Marilyn Eiland, partner with Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors, said the whole company gets involved.
“Many of our agents donate a portion of their sales commission to the Sunshine Kids, and some of our area offices hold their own fundraisers for the Kids. Everyone here is committed to this cause,” said Eiland.
30th Anniversary Celebration
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the formation of The Sunshine Kids, and plans are underway for a big blowout celebration. Ann Woodroof, a major force behind the fundraising efforts, is coordinating a team of dedicated volunteers whose mission is to raise as much money as possible for the Kids.
Woodroof recently returned from the Sunshine Kids Winter Games in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where she visited with many of the kids.
“I know it is all worthwhile when I see the smiles on the faces of these kids at these outings. These amazing kids have immeasurably enriched my life,” she said.
