To help students transition into middle school, Quail Valley Middle School (QVMS) hosted its annual Raider Camp for incoming sixth and seventh-grade students. A separate event was held for each grade level, giving students the opportunity to meet members of the administrative team, faculty and staff, tour the campus, and meet fellow classmates. They also received QVMS backpacks and had the opportunity to purchase PE uniforms and spirit wear.
Principal Thomas Heinly welcomed students and parents to the event and stated how proud he is to have them become a part of the QVMS family. Heinly also introduced QVMS administrators and staff members, who were eager to meet with new students and assist parents with any questions and concerns they had.
Parents were also invited to attend an informational session to learn more about what to expect in middle school. Assistant Principal Charlie Butler (with assistance from Associate Principal Jacob Nichols and Assistant Principal Schmecia Linares) led the session, providing information on school hours, student testing, transportation, required vaccinations, and school policies and procedures regarding such areas as attendance, dress code, and discipline. Parents were also invited to join the school’s Parent Teacher Organization.
