I went to an informational meeting at Huggins Elementary School in Fulshear on October 13 to hear Dr Thomas Randle, Superintendent of Schools, speak about the Lamar CISD Schoolhouse Bond election to be voted on November 8 (early voting to begin Monday, October 24).
It was rewarding to see that the bond package had been conscientiously developed by a Citizens Bond Committee of over 60 community members/volunteers and LCISD staff. The need for additional facilities should be evident to all of us as we see many new homes continually going up in our area. New campuses will need to be built and many upgrades are required for existing facilities.
The cost to the average taxpayer will be about $5.00 per month, and senior citizens over 65 who have filed for exemptions will see no increase in their taxes as a result of the bonds. I was so impressed by the need to pass this bond referendum, that I have chosen to write this letter to recommend that everyone get out and vote for it.
