Garcia Middle School students and staff held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in February to officially dedicate their new track that was refurbished thanks to the generous monetary donation from MUD (Municipal Utility District) #25 and its Board Members.
MUD #25 agreed to match $15,000 that Garcia students and staff raised through t-shirt fundraisers. The track became unusable following the Texas drought, but will now be used to help support the school’s health initiative that involves Garcia students, staff members, parents and community members.
“It’s important to have a strong partnership with community and business groups that can help support our students,” said Joseph Chandler, principal at Garcia Middle School. “Through the efforts of MUD #25, we have received something we all can be proud of and use for years to come.”
