Missouri City’s Citizens’ Police & Fire Academy begins April 12 and will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at Missouri City Public Safety Headquarters, 3849 Cartwright Rd. Registration deadline is April 8.
The free, six-week academy offers instruction in traffic laws and criminal law; lessons in a firearms training simulator, a motor vehicle extrication using the jaws-of-life, the principles of CPR, a live fire demonstration, a staged SWAT operation, a Dive Rescue Team demonstration, building searches, and crime scene investigations.
Applications are available at Public Safety Headquarters or on the city’s website by clicking on the “For Residents” tab, selecting “Forms and Applications” and scrolling down to “Citizens Police & Fire Academy Application”.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either live or work in Missouri City. After completing the academy, members will be eligible to join the Missouri City Police & Fire Auxiliary and/or the Citizen’s Response Team.
