I understand that it is against the law to use cell phones in school zones in Ft Bend County especially in Sugar Land and Missouri City. My concern is that I have heard that there is no law or rule forbidding phone usage in the Q while children are being dropped off and picked up.
I feel that this is where phone usage must be curtailed. I have seen people in the Q who are so distracted that they run over the curb next to where children are walking.
Why is this law not enforced on FBISD school property as it is on city streets?
*Editor’s note: The “Q” mentioned in Mr. White’s letter is explained ..…the Q is the line of cars that drop off students in the morning in front of the schools and pick them up in the afternoon. It is typical that the Q is sometimes a quarter of a mile long during peak drop off and pick up times.
