The Richmond Fire Department is hosting a Trench Rescue Class delivered by TEEX (Texas Education Extension System out of Texas A&M). The class is designed to train firefighters in advanced skills to provide special operations in the Fort Bend area. “Having these enhanced skills helps us prepare for various types of emergencies, beyond Fire and EMS responses that may impact the Fort Bend area,” said Richmond Fire Chief Michael Youngblood.
The class is scheduled for several days and includes firefighters from Richmond, Rosenberg, Missouri City, Stafford and Sugar Land Fire Departments. Chief Youngblood also said, “Combining efforts and training together strengthens resources in the County. These fire service personnel are dedicated to providing the most comprehensive service available to our citizens.”
All members of the Richmond Fire Department receive the training in Trench, Collapse, Water Rescue, and Hazardous Materials. These Special Operations classes are scheduled over several weeks to ensure all members have the opportunity to attend.
